Greetings from the U.K.!!

I've made it to London!!! I can tell that this is going to be a fun city to get to know :)

For our trip over, Syracuse Abroad set up a group flight for us with Virgin Atlantic. We were about two hours delayed leaving Newark, but all-in-all I thought Virgin was a great experience. They offered a tasty meal on the plane and had numerous options of TV shows and movies you could watch during the flight. Since it was an overnight flight, I didn't take advantage of all of the movies they had, but that's something to look forward to for the plane trip home.

We arrived in London yesterday morning, and then we had orientation that afternoon. After the orientation, the Law in London group went out to a nice dinner with our Professor. I had the traditional English meal of "bangers and mash." It was sausage links and mashed potatoes. Based on some stories I had heard about English food, I prepped myself coming over here that the food was going to be terrible and bland. I was hesitant last night at the restaurant, but it turned out to be not so bad! Also we had this delicious white wine with dinner, and I think that had a hand in helping the food go down smoothly!

The place I'm staying is nice. It kind of feels like summer camp in that there are a lot of students around. I live in a "flat" (London vocab for apartment.) I have 4 roommates. 2 guys and 1 girl are from Syracuse, and then there's another girl in the triple with us. It seems like it will be a nice place to call home for the next 7 weeks. Dan, (my friend from Albany Law School who is also in the London program), lives on the floor right beneath me, so that's nice to have him so close.

Today we had another quick registration meeting with our Professor, and then individual meetings regarding our placements. After that, Dan and I had lunch, and then it was the search for the cell phone. To make a long story short, it took us about 5 hours of exploring the city to actually get a cell phone and figure out how to make international calls. Crazy! But exploring/slightly getting lost in London was fun :)

Also ladies, I wanted to let everyone know that the fashion biggies here are black tights, skinny jeans, and flats - which were to be expected. I haven't seen anything too terribly progressive yet, but my eyes are peeled! And gentlemen, it appears skinny jeans are also in for you. Fun :)

Alright kids, that's it for now. I think a bunch of us in the program are going out tonight, so I'll be sure to let you know how the London nightlife is!

Cheers :)

Last Night in the States

Hello again everyone! Well, the time has come. Tonight is my last night in the United States - it feels crazy! It hasn't really sunk in yet, that I will be in London for 7 weeks. I spent the past few days in the Bing with Mom and Big John, and Patrick also came for a visit. It was really nice to spend time with everyone. Tomorrow afternoon, Mom and John will drive me to Newark and I'll be off on this new adventure :) I look forward to sharing my experiences with all of you! Good night :)

Last Night In Lawbany

Hello everyone! Welcome to Sara Is The New Blog :) I am very excited about this upcoming summer and I am excited to share this experience with all of you! Please feel free to come and go as much as you'd like, and I'll try to keep updating regularly. I'm not exactly sure where my internship placement will be, but I'm hoping to be placed in either a criminal law or family law position. Also, my fingers are crossed that I have a run-in with Prince William, and thus be on my way to fulfilling one of my "Future Goals" listed in my senior year high school yearbook. (I.e. to marry Prince William.) Anyways, I need to finish up this packing. Tomorrow morning I'm headed to Binghamton to spend a few days with the family, and then I'm London-bound May 28th! As my roommate Karen (who previously lived in London) tells me they say in London all the time - Cheers! :)
