Le Petit Prince

When I took French in High School, my teacher, Madame Anderson, had us read Le Petit Prince. She even took us to a play of Le Petit Prince that Union Endicott High School put on. The main theme of Le Petit Prince, and perhaps the most well-known line of the story, is this:

"On ne voit bien qu'avec le cœur, l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux." (One can't see well except with your heart, the essential is invisible to the eyes).
It is a very, very well-known book. To date it has sold more than 50 million copies worldwide, putting it at number 3 on the most printed books list, just behind the Bible and "Gone With the Wind" by Margaret Mitchell. It is one of the top 50 best-selling books. It has been adapted into a movie musical by Lerner and Loewe, two different operas, as well as into an animated series. (Thank you Wikipedia!) Anyways, it was a big part of my French education, thus I had to pose with a poster, and it deserved it's own post!
